July 13th - Hanging at Hutch for Kim's B-day

It was a fun day spent with my big sis on her birthday. We had a breakfast b-day party and then went fishing....ah, peace and quiet on the lake while Nana watched the kids. So fun! Thanks Nana!!

July 11th - William's 50 year Jubilee

An awesome celebration weekend as William was recognized for his achievement of 50 years as a Benedictine Monk. The weekend included a celebratory mass, cello concert performed by William for family, and Declan's baptism. It was a very memorable weekend with family.

Declan is getting so big! He has such a great personality...he loves to smile and talk. I guess he takes after me....ha ha ha!

We were just having fun around the house and Ada wanted to hold her little brother. I was a little nervous but she did a great job! She is my little helper.

Week 5

Here are some pics I took today...I just found a new battery pack (the other one was dead, hence no photos). He is growing and showing his personality. A pretty easy going baby....loves to chillax (chill + relax...fyi) and take it all in. I'm excited to find out how much he has grown when we go to his doc appointment tomorrow. We'll keep you posted.

Week Three

Just wanted to let you all know that we are almost getting to a routine! I feel like dancin'! (and then taking a nap) I was quite sick last week and luckily no one else in the house caught it from me. I'm feeling much better this week....I finally have my energy back!

Declan is getting bigger every day. He is so strong, from day one he could support his head and now he tries to stand up when I hold him on my lap. I'll try to upload more photos soon so you can see how he changes.

Declan (Dex) Michael Hisey couldn't wait until March 11th to be born so he decided to come into the world on his Nana's birthday, March 9th! He was born at 8:50 am and weighed 9 lbs, 2 oz., and 19.5 in. He was the talk of the nursery. Even the hearing test technician knew about him before coming into do the test!!

He is a very sweet baby that barely cries....he has a great demeanor. We all just want a turn to hold him. Ada potada is completely in love with her little brother. Whenever she sees him she gets a big smile on her face and says something like Declan....and then kisses his head a couple times and is on her way.

Love is in the air!

Get Ready, Get Set.......He's Coming!

Here it is...a couple days before the BIG ARRIVAL! Baby D will grace us with his presence on Wednesday morning (March 11th) or before....there is still hope (on my behalf)!!

We are super excited to meet this little man face to face, finally! What an amazing journey and we are so blessed that we didn't have complications when I was on bed rest. Thank you Jesus!

I hope to have Drew post pictures as soon as we can so that you can all meet him as well. We will keep you posted and let you know all the wonderful and exciting news when it happens!

Getting Ready for Christmas!

This third week in Advent is all about having JOYful hearts in anticipation for Christ's birth! We are so excited and JOYful for our coming road trip to Minnesota for Christmas. Please keep us in your prayers as we make our 18 hour trip to Minnesota on Friday [with a pit stop in Ardmore (OK) to spend the night with Drew's parents]. We are excited for snow and cold weather but would really appreciate safe roads!

This is a picture that Laura took of Ada in her birthday present (a dress from Mexico) from Evan and Jennie. There is such JOY in her facial expression that I had to include it in this post!

It's Advent!!

Drew, Ada, and I had a wonderful Thanksgiving with the Hisey family in Dallas. Evan and JK hosted all of us for Thanxmas 2008!! JK made an absolutely delicious turkey and all the fixings. It was a great weekend. We even helped decorate their Christmas tree so that we could feel in the mood when we opened our presents. I hope to upload some pictures of the weekend so you can see all the fun!

Happy Advent Everyone!! When we got home from Dallas, I was so excited to put together our Advent wreath! On Sunday while Drew was in the back yard finishing the fence, I worked on the wreath. It looks great! After church we lit the first candle and blessed the wreath. I just love this time of year and all the traditions we are starting as a family!!

It's a boy!!!

We had our ultrasound on Wednesday and found out that we are blessed with a BOY! Drew did a fist pump in all of his excitement. It was very cute.

The little man was very energetic and gave the technician a run for her money while she was conducting her assessment. Above is a profile of the little guy. He is looking up and his foot is over his head. Enjoy!

She's Walkin'!!!

Just wanted to let you all know that Miss Adelaide is now a upright walking little girl! Her face glows when she smiles over her accomplishment.

She spent most of last night doing laps around the house which included a lot of wobbling and falling. Her determination to get up and try again was inspiring for Drew and I to watch. Thank the Lord there is a lot of padding in diapers and she doesn't have far to fall!!

Both of us were watching in awe that we forgot to grab the video camera! Luckily, we remembered with enough time to catch her before those legs got tired. We can't wait to share it with you all!

Ada Potada and Baked Potada!

Drew and I are expecting our second child! Baked Potada will be arriving around the beginning of March. I've been meaning to post this wonderful news for quite some time but I let life get in the way.

Our second ultrasound will be in a couple weeks and hopefully I will be able to share the images with you.

The Real Thing

Ada turned ONE years-old on August 28!

It was a beautiful day filled with family, friends, and as always great food! Drew and Braden cooked up some great beer brats and sour kraut. Jennie and Evan helped make and decorate the cupcakes. I made Louise's famous potato salad. And Mamo Bobbie and Poppi had fun playing with Ada.

We enjoyed our meal and our conversations. The kids had a blast playing with the piñata and gathering all of the candy that Jennie so neatly and patiently packed into it. We all had fun watching Ada play with the tissue paper from her birthday presents and listened to the music of the balloon toys that looked so neat in the wrapper at the store, but little did we know how loud they would be!

But ultimately everyone was excited about the CAKE. It was a great cake....and it didn't last that long! Ada's practice round in Minnesota surely prepared her for the REAL THING!

A Mother's Calling

A Mother's Calling is a group at church that I joined last year when Ada was born. It is such a life building community of moms that meet every Wednesday. We have speakers come to church to talk with us about various topics mainly spiritual in nature. I'm so glad the Lord helped me meet these women and grow my faith in the process.

I enjoyed the group so much that I offered to lead the group this year. We started at the end of August and have had such a wonderful fall so far. Our group is growing by leaps and bounds both new moms and new babies. So far we have eight mothers that have given birth or are pregnant since September!! We now warn any new comers to not drink the water or the coffee!!

Ada's Practice 1st Birthday

While in Minnesota we decided to have a birthday party for Ada so that all of her cousins and family could celebrate with her. It was a fun and beautiful day by the pool at the Sumners home. The kids swam in the pool with Abba blarring in the background. It was a blast to listen to all of them sing to the music.

Then it was time for cake! Ada sat eagerly awaiting something. She didn't know what. You can see her anticipation in the picture or is that pure joy to be around her cousins?

She had a great time digging into the chocolate cake with out mom interfering and LOVED it. Luckily we had a camera that could shoot video, so I could share the moment with dad when we got home. It was a little to big to upload to the blog. Sorry!

Arrivederci William!

Ada and I flew up to Minnesota to wish Father William arrivederci in early August. I was thrilled to be there for William's farewell party and witness his reaction to the wonderful gift that Greg made him. Greg along with his mentor, Will (not to be confused with William), created and built from scratch a beautiful cello for William to bring with him to Roma. We had a great time and it was so wonderful to see everyone and catch up.

Walkin, Walkin, Walkin

(Rawhide theme) Walkin', walkin', walkin'...keep that baby walking...walkin', walkin', walkin'...one stride!

Ada is just days away from taking her first steps...I know it! We have a little push cart kind of thing that allows her to hold on and walk around. She looks like a cowboy struttin' with her bowed legs and lack of balance. Too cute. She likes to show me that she is a pro at walking on her knees behind this contraption with her eyes peeking over the top, but she makes me beg to see her walk tall. It will be interesting to see if she walks on her own before her first birthday.

That is so crazy to think about...our little chunky monkey is turning ONE!! It's such a reward to see her progress in her development over the last year, the big milestones and the day-to-day surprises. My scientific mind is having a hay day analyzing her every move. The psychology classes I took in college (really the same class taken three times) are paying off!! More importantly, it is fun being a mom and having the ability to nurture, protect, and teach this wonderful angel the ins and outs of life.

Exploring the "Great Indoors"

Ada and I are excited that Drew is coming home tonight. He was in the Denver ERM office for training. The training was for effective communication during presentations. It's a great three day course and you come away with with more self confidence to stand and speak in front of clients and others. A course that most of us need...I know I still have a fear of speaking in front of others.

In Drew's absence, Princess Ada and I explored the "great indoors" and far away lands that have adventure around every corner. We almost got lost in the mountainous mounds of laundry that seem to multiply on their own, but I ironed them flat. I defended my Princess Ada from the gigantic monster that crawled in from the laundry room. After screaming, I drew my trusty vacuum sword that sucked up the monster and I banished it to the garage. Mission completed! Where were those furry beasts when you need them!! We traveled to far away places in Princess Ada's magical books that taught us about opposites, the alphabet, and sharing a strawberry with a mouse before the big hungry bear found it for himself. We talked to and chased the three furry beasts that roam the "great indoors". As well as observing the three happy fish that paced back and forth in their quaint little pond in the laundry room. We have also been busy building and destroy beautiful castles and towers. That's a tough job, but the locals needed the help.

We have many stories to share with Daddy of our adventures when he gets home and I know Princess Ada will babble to him for hours. Mean while, Princess Ada's guardian will be heading to bed.

Happy Fourth of July!

Ardmore is where we celebrated the Fourth of July this year. A tradition that has been revived, the Hiseys invite family and friends for a fun afternoon of food, swimming, and making homemade ice cream!

It was a lovely time. Ada was spoiled as usual by Poppi with a bowl of peach ice cream!! She couldn't get enough of it and her face was covered with sticky goodness! Nancy Anne took some great photos of her. I can't wait to see them! Overall, I think that peach was the favorite flavor, which had nothing to do with Buster, one of their dogs, licking the top of vanilla ice cream container.

We also had a relaxing time lying around the pool and splashing with Ada. In typical fashion there was plenty of dunking, wrestling, and stealing the floating mats between Evan, Drew and Pops. Ada was looking at them like they were crazy! So she had fun with Mom and Auntie Jennie relaxing away from those silly men.

Jim, a friend of the Hisey family, suprised us all with a fun floaty boat for Ada to sit in. She loved it! It had a neat little cover to shade her from the hot sun and it played music too! Thank you so much for your generosity, Jim! Now Ada will have a floaty like the rest of us.

The weekend was filled with many memories, Jennie's "Harmony Hash", Ada's constant babble and bottomless stomach, the dogs sitting under Ada's chair waiting for the next tasty nibblet, celebrating Drew, Lloyd, and Mike's birthday, and watching the Wimbledon tournament.

Thank you all for such an amazing time spent together.

Welcome to the world of the Hisey Clan! We've decided to jump on the blog bandwagon and connect you all to our lives.

We hope to use this space as a way for our family and friends to stay connected to us even though we are not close (geographically speaking, of course!).

Below are a couple pictures that our wonderful friend, Laura, took of us while my Mom was in town visiting her favorite Ada. She had such a wonderful time with Nana! Thank you so much for coming down to stay with us for awhile, Mom. I really had such an amazing time with you.
